Promotion Conference for the 9th China International Import Expo Held in Montreal, Canada
发布时间:2026-07-22

The Promotion Conference for the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Montreal, a city in eastern Canada, on the 19th. Participants said that the CIIE is an economically and trade-focused grand event with global influence, offering a unique platform for all parties to share opportunities in China’s market and boost international cooperation.

Dai Yuming, Chinese Consul General in Montreal, stated in his address that Canadian enterprises enjoy a global reputation in green and low-carbon sectors including clean hydrogen energy and smart power grids, as well as life sciences, elderly care services and high-quality food. Quebec’s strengths in hydropower and energy storage also align perfectly with market demand in China.

Dai Yuming noted that innovative Canadian companies can find application scenarios for technology commercialization, partners for joint research and development, and even investment from China at the CIIE, achieving a leap "from the laboratory to the massive market".

Martin Cocho, Vice President of the Canada-China Business Council, held the view that the CIIE serves as a crucial window through which China takes the initiative to open its market and expand imports.

Melissa Profitt, Director of Export Services for Asia-Pacific, Oceania and the Middle East at Invest Quebec, said Quebec enterprises are committed to meeting demand from the Chinese market with high-quality products and services. Invest Quebec has taken an active part in the CIIE ever since the inaugural edition in 2018 and will organize a business delegation to attend this year’s expo.

Deng Jun, President of the Canadian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and President of Bank of China (Canada), remarked that the CIIE is not merely an exhibition platform, but also an important bridge facilitating long-term pragmatic cooperation between Canadian enterprises and the Chinese market. The Canadian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Bank of China (Canada) will continue to leverage their strengths as a platform and resource connector, supporting more Canadian companies to explore the Chinese market and deepen China-Canada economic and trade cooperation.
