Jocelyn Young, CEO of the Surrey White Rock Trade Board, one of Canada’s largest chambers of commerce, said in a recent interview that the Chinese market boasts enormous development potential and abundant cooperation opportunities, and she expects this year’s China International Import Expo (CIIE) to generate new prospects for future Canada-China cooperation.
Canada will serve as the Guest Country of Honor at this year’s CIIE. Commenting on the expo as a communication platform, Jocelyn Young noted that any event bringing together global importers, exporters and business leaders — especially one facilitating exchanges between Canada and China — offers invaluable chances to forge business ties and expand cooperation networks.
According to Young, Canadian and Chinese enterprises feature strong complementarity, leaving massive room for bilateral collaboration that can jointly drive innovation and economic growth. She pointed out that Canada boasts multiple competitive sectors ready to tap into the Chinese market, including clean technology, advanced manufacturing, food production and agricultural science and technology.
“China stands among the world’s leaders in scientific and technological innovation. I am eagerly looking forward to valuable exchanges and dialogues taking shape at this CIIE, as well as fresh opportunities for bilateral cooperation going forward,” she remarked.
