On August 12, the Smart Products Overseas Launch Event (New Energy Special Session), co‑hosted by the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade, was successfully held at the Jakarta International Expo in Jakarta, Indonesia. Held concurrently with EDRR Indonesia 2026, the event leveraged exhibition resources to focus on fast‑growing tracks for China‑Indonesia trade cooperation including new‑energy vehicles, photovoltaic power and energy storage industries, and facilitate the going‑global of China’s competitive industrial chains into Southeast Asia.

The event brought together around 100 government officials, industry experts and enterprise representatives from China and Indonesia. Li Hongwei, Minister‑Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, Zeng Huacheng, Deputy Director‑General of the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and Arif, Head of Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency, attended and delivered speeches. Also present were Sun Shangbin, President of Bank of China Jakarta Branch, Xie Mingchun, Deputy Secretary‑General of the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Winardi, Director‑General of Industrial Park Division under Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, Ihsan, Youth Planning Officer of the Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, and Professor Harris from Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

During the keynote and guest speech sessions, government officials and industry experts from China and Indonesia conducted in‑depth exchanges on topics such as Indonesia’s national research framework for energy transition, fiscal incentives and investment climate, localization of nickel‑battery‑electric vehicle industry, competitiveness of industrial parks, power supply roadmaps and energy‑storage ecosystems. Representatives of Chinese enterprises including Gotion High‑Tech and Shanghai Junhe Atom Technology delivered special speeches on green‑energy solutions, electric‑vehicle manufacturing and value chains, as well as application prospects of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the AI era. Bank of China Jakarta Branch and TC Group offered professional interpretations on Indonesia’s financial landscape together with cross‑border investment risks and countermeasures.

In the business‑matching session, drawing on resources from Indonesia’s professional exhibition for emergency response and disaster reduction, the event zeroed in on key China‑Indonesia trade sectors covering new‑energy vehicles, photovoltaic power and energy storage industries. A total of 18 high‑quality suppliers held negotiations with more than 30 specially‑invited global buyers and local Indonesian procuring entities. Signing ceremonies for cooperation between multiple enterprises were also held on‑site to elevate the quality and efficiency of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
