Beijing has gained another pillar for independent innovation in high-end medical equipment. On October 15, Neusoft Medical’s Beijing Regional Headquarters was officially completed in Haidian. A series of initiatives were rolled out on the same day, including the inauguration of a key laboratory, the launch of R&D projects for core components, and the signing of agreements for localised production of high-end imaging equipment. Backed by China General Technology Group, the medical equipment firm is accelerating the build-out of a full-chain innovation system in Beijing spanning basic research, medicine-industry collaboration and equipment manufacturing.
As the core carrier of the regional headquarters, Neusoft Medical’s Global Hybrid Operating Room and Intelligent Angiography System R&D Laboratory was officially unveiled. The Beijing Key Laboratory for Intelligent Imaging Technology Innovation and Clinical Translation in Hybrid Operating Rooms, led by Beijing Neusoft Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. and co-established with Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Children’s Hospital, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital and Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, was launched concurrently. Approved and designated in June this year, the laboratory will leverage medical and industrial resources to advance technical research and commercial translation of intelligent imaging technologies for hybrid operating rooms.
The event kicked off 14 joint research projects under the 2026 Beijing Natural Science Foundation – Haidian Original Innovation Joint Fund, focusing on photon-counting CT, multimodal imaging, intelligent interventional navigation and other fields. Meanwhile, Beijing’s high-end industrial foundation project for DSA X-ray tubes was officially initiated. As the project proposer, Neusoft Medical will partner with Beijing Chaoqun Testing Technology to tackle core component development for DSA X-ray tubes and break through technical bottlenecks for parts used in high-end medical equipment.
On the manufacturing front, Neusoft Medical completed handover and contract signing for commissioned production with the Beijing Medical Robotics Center. Building on equity investment, both parties will adopt the CDMO model to advance large-scale local production of DSA and PET/CT systems. Three parallel thematic seminars were held, where industry experts held discussions and matchmaking sessions covering hybrid operating room imaging, high-end CT and the application of intelligent imaging devices.
Gu Jin, Deputy General Manager of China General Technology Group and Chairman of Neusoft Medical, stated that the group will continue to support Neusoft Medical’s R&D of high-end equipment, medicine-industry integration and global layout. It will speed up the domestic production of core components, use the joint fund to connect industry, academia, research and end-users, and foster deep integration between clinical needs and technology R&D.
Song Qi, Party Secretary of Neusoft Medical, remarked that Beijing ranks among the company’s most important growth regions over the next five years. The enterprise will team up with clinical specialists and industrial partners to develop domestic core components and pursue innovation in low-radiation, intelligent medical imaging technologies.
