The 19th Europe-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair opened in Chengdu on the morning of October 22. Co-hosted by the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, the opening ceremony was attended by Liu Jiannan, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Vice Chairman of CCOIC, who delivered an address.
Liu Jiannan noted that the Fair is not only a practical platform for targeted matchmaking between Chinese and EU enterprises, but also a vivid embodiment of the mutually beneficial China-EU economic and trade partnership. CCPIT and CCOIC will continue to fulfill their mandate of connecting government and business, linking domestic and overseas markets, and aligning supply and demand. They will further unlock the spillover effect of the Fair platform, promote steady and sound practical economic and trade cooperation between China and the EU, and make new contributions to advancing high-standard opening up and building an open world economy.
During the event, Liu also took part in the Link to Europe Investment and Cooperation Exchange Session and the Roundtable of China-EU Trade Promotion Institutions and Chambers of Commerce. He held in-depth discussions with participants on deepening China-EU economic and trade cooperation through the Fair and bolstering coordinated development of industrial and supply chains.
Held in Chengdu from October 21 to 23, the Fair carries the theme Dialogue and Cooperation for Mutual Benefit. Its agenda includes one opening ceremony and plenary session, 11 thematic exchanges, industrial park tours and related activities, as well as two B2B matchmaking sessions. Nearly 700 enterprises and institutions from more than 20 countries joined the event on-site.
Initiated by the European Commission in 2002 and permanently settled in Chengdu since 2006, the Fair has attracted more than 14,000 Chinese and European enterprises over the years. It stands as the largest platform for investment, trade and innovation cooperation between China and the EU with the widest participation from EU member states and European businesses.
