As reported by Bolivia’s La Razón on December 3, President Luis Arce of Bolivia convened a committee of various productive sectors and announced that zero import tariffs on foreign-manufactured technological products have been implemented in Oruro, with the plan to roll out this policy nationwide in the near future. The President stated that the government will formulate a detailed list of duty-free imported products and register electronic and technological products such as mobile phones and computers entering Bolivia, aiming to lower the prices of such products and curb smuggling. The government will submit a bill on the exemption of import tariffs on technological products to the Legislative Assembly, and in the future, it will also fulfill its campaign promise to phase out the national customs service gradually.
