On the morning of May 12, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, who is paying a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Premier Li Qiang stated that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Tajikistan are working closely together to build a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future at a higher level. President Xi Jinping will hold a meeting with President Rahmon to draw a new blueprint for the continuous deepening of China-Tajikistan relations. China stands ready to further consolidate political mutual trust with Tajikistan, increase mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests, firmly oppose interference by any external forces, and promote the China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for a new era to grow steadily, adding more impetus to the development and rejuvenation of both countries.

Premier Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to continue leveraging the role of the Intergovernmental Economic and Trade Cooperation Commission with Tajikistan, steadily expand trade volume, improve the quality and efficiency of investment cooperation, and deepen cooperation in mineral resources, green industries, the digital economy, infrastructure and other fields to better serve the modernization drive of both countries. China is willing to import more high-quality products from Tajikistan and encourage more capable Chinese enterprises to invest in Tajikistan. The two sides should further deepen exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, health, local governance and other fields, accelerate the establishment of cultural centers in each other’s countries, and further consolidate the public opinion foundation for the friendship between the two countries. As important forces in the Global South, China and Tajikistan should strengthen coordination and cooperation on platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the China-Central Asia Mechanism, urging all parties to safeguard multilateralism, promote openness and win-win results, and build a more just and reasonable global governance system. China will fully support Tajikistan in hosting the SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting this year.

President Rahmon expressed that under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has achieved tremendous economic and social development. China is a friendly neighbor and reliable strategic partner of Tajikistan. In recent years, mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and China has yielded fruitful results. Tajikistan appreciates China’s strong support for its national development and looks forward to further strengthening high-level exchanges with China, deepening cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, connectivity and other fields, expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as the digital economy, green minerals, clean energy and high-tech, and promoting people-to-people and local exchanges. More Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and start businesses in Tajikistan. Tajikistan stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with China in multilateral affairs and continuously enrich the connotation of the Tajikistan-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for a new era.

Wu Zhenglong attended the meeting.
