The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is drawing near. On October 12, the first batch of inbound exhibits for this CIIE completed customs clearance and entered China under the supervision of Shanghai Customs. Shipped by sea from Austria to Shanghai, the consignment includes a mill-turn machining center making its debut in Asia.

Following the arrival of the first batch, more exhibits such as French tires, Australian coffee and Kazakh ice cream will be delivered to Shanghai one after another. To boost clearance efficiency, Shanghai Customs has set up 123 dedicated service windows and special lanes for the CIIE across its 26 subordinate customs offices to speed up customs clearance of exhibits.

“Leveraging smart supervision via the big data platform, we will implement facilitative clearance measures including appointment-based customs clearance and dedicated windows and posts to ensure fast clearance for eligible CIIE exhibits,” said Zhu Xuelong, Deputy Section Chief of the Comprehensive Business Section I of Yangshan Customs.

The 9th CIIE will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. More than 1,200 enterprises from 99 countries and regions have signed up for participation. To support the CIIE in achieving greater success, the General Administration of Customs has maintained supportive policies adopted in previous expos and formulated and issued the Customs Clearance Guidelines for the 9th China International Import Expo (2026) and the Customs Facilitation Measures for the 9th China International Import Expo (2026). The documents specify operational standards covering the whole chain, including declaration of inbound exhibits, inspection and supervision, and post-expo disposal.

“We will continue to optimize clearance procedures, strengthen on-site supervision and deliver consultation services. We will implement preferential tax policies for exhibits and unified guarantee and other facilitative policies to cut exhibitors’ institutional costs, guarantee the smooth running of the 9th CIIE, and help premium global goods access China’s vast market faster and better,” said Chang Zhemin, Deputy Commissioner of Shanghai Exhibition Center Customs.
